Technical Coordinator
Job details
I am currently representing a Top Construction company who are seeking to recruit a Technical Coordinator. My client is currently one of the biggest residential Construction companies in the country, turning over in excess of £900 million and opting to build quality over quantity. This position will require the Technical Coordinator to be based from the office for the first year for planning and then based on site.
The Position
Reporting into the Technical Lead on project, you will be required to manage the design process in order to develop a design compliant with all contract requirements and in the most cost-effective way, management of all Design Trade Packages, organise and control Design Development and report current position against the Design Programme.
The Project
This project will consist of over 200 high specification residential units, across 6 RC Frame blocks varying between 5 and 9 Storeys. This will be a mix of market sale, and affordable housing with a mix of 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom apartments. The proposed development creates a vibrant new neighbourhood with associated footpaths and landscaping.
Success Measures
- Compliance with CDM regulations
- Appropriate design risk assessments ensuring minimal risk
- Effective delivery of design programmes from pre-construction to completion
- Timely and accurate production of design packages to target programmes
- Design meets departmental requirements (cost, buildability, customer services)
- Consultants adhere to the agreed design programme
- Statutory delivery and authority requirements are understood and met
- Programmes are completed and handed over to the client per contract requirements
- Design complies with relevant statutory bodies and legislation
- Construction and development follow provided drawings, schedules, ERs, and specifications
- Company standard details, tender control document assumptions, and change control process compliance are maintained
- Information handling, monitoring, and provision align with company policies and procedures
- Design represents good value and meets budget targets
- Payment schedules are met
- Value variations are agreed upon with the line manager
Skills, Experience, and Attributes
- Working towards a relevant professional qualification (Degree, HNC/HND, NVQ Level 5 CDM for Principal Designers awareness)
- Experience in coordinating and managing the design team on projects
- Ability to prioritize, negotiate, motivate, and communicate to meet objectives
- Good time management, organizational skills, numeracy, participation in meetings, deadline adherence, and accuracy
- Aptitude for gaining management skills to support team trainees
- Passionate about customer satisfaction, house building, and construction
- Awareness and basic experience of planning, financial, and legal processes
- Basic knowledge of BIM Level 2, including COBie data drops
- Understanding of Golden Thread requirements
- Contribution to the preparation of project programmes
